Everton are the strong favourites to sign Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney this summer, according to the latest bookmakers odds.
Sky Bet has installed the Toffees odds on at 5/6 to sign the 31-year-old star before the end of the summer transfer window on 3 September.
A move for Rooney to any club in China is placed at 2/1, a move to the MLS is at 10/1, and a move to Newcastle and West Ham are the outside bets – placed at 40/1.
Intriguingly, Sky Bet have priced the possibility of Rooney joining Everton as more than five times more likely than him staying at current club United.
The report also revealed that the Toffees would offer the 31-year-old £150,000 a week, in an attempt to make him budge from Old Trafford.
United’s captain has not featured in Jose Mourinho’s starting XI much this term, prompting speculation that the Portuguese manager sees him as surplus to requirements.
Rooney has scored only six goals this term in his 32 league and cup games this season but he has provided ten assists and has an outstanding career strike rate.
The forwards is the record goalscorer for both United and England after annexing the numbers of previous holder Sir Bobby Charlton.
The 119-time England international has a contract tying him to the Red Devils until the summer of 2018 but he may be tempted to leave for the promise of regular minutes at Goodison Park.
