Betting update: Odds slashed on Everton to seal Jan swoop for West Ham player
Everton are now clear favourites to sign West Ham full-back Aaron Cresswell before the January transfer window closes, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
BetVictor have slashed the Toffees’ price from 4/1 to 2/1 so they are now the sole favourites to seal a swoop for Cresswell, 28, before the end of the month.
In December, the Toffees were joint-favourites with Liverpool, but after an update in the market, the Goodison Park club are now in pole position.
After a shuffle in the running, Liverpool (4/1) are now second-favourites while Manchester City (6/1), Arsenal (8/1) and Tottenham (8/1) are also believed to be in contention to snap up the former Ipswich star.
The Daily Mail claimed on their live transfer blog last Thursday [03:57pm] that Everton had held discussions over a series of left-back targets they could pursue in January, including West Ham player Cresswell.
The 28-year-old has been ever-present for the Hammers this season, making 24 appearances across all competitions and supplying four assists.
In recent weeks, David Moyes has switched the three-times England international to play more of a central defensive role on the left-side of a back three.
Everton are widely thought to be on the look-out for a new left-back this month with the ageing Leighton Baines injured and traditional right-back Cuco Martina having to fill in.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are in the hunt to sign this £20million-rated midfield colossus dubbed as the next Paul Pogba.
