Betting update: Rangers installed as favourites to sign Premier League great
By Alex Stevens
Rangers have been installed as the new favourites to sign former Arsenal and Manchester United striker Robin van Persie.
The Holland international had his odds slashed to 2/1 by betting company Sky Bet on Sunday night to make a sensational move to Ibrox.
The second favourites to land Van Persie are Stoke, who are priced at 6/1, while West Ham are third at 9/1.
Van Persie, 32, is regarded as a Premier League all-time great after scoring 166 goals in 336 matches in the competition during his decade at Arsenal and United.
He left Old Trafford after three years last summer to bring to an end his 11-year spell in the Premier League.
But the Mirror are reporting that Van Persie wants a return to British football a year after joining Fenerbahce.
The Dutch striker netted on 16 occasions last term as he helped his side to Champions League qualification, but he has failed to settle down in Turkey and is said to be keen on a return to the country where he played the best football of his career.
In other Rangers transfer news, this Premier League manager has praised the work Mark Warburton is doing at Ibrox.
