Pontus Jansson has been passed fit for Leeds United’s Championship clash against Millwall on Saturday, Marcelo Bielsa has revealed.
Speaking at his media conference on Thursday, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post, the United manager explained that centre-back Jansson and central midfielder Adam Forshaw are both fit and available for the Elland Road fixture.
Bielsa also revealed that Kemar Roofe is set to return for Leeds’ match immediately after the Millwall game, against Birmingham City on 6 April.
Football Insider verdict:
This is the triple update that Leeds fans have been waiting for. Firstly, it is a massive boost that Jansson is fit for Saturday’s showdown against Millwall and that the knee injury he sustained in the defeat to Sheffield United before the international break is not a serious one. The Sweden international is the commander of the United back line and has forged an excellent partnership with Liam Cooper this season that culminated in the skipper being named in the Championship team of the season. The returns of Forshaw and Roofe after extensive spells out with knee injuries of their own is also huge, and will further increase the options available to Bielsa. Forshaw’s experience and pedigree are set to be valuable for the run-in, while news that Roofe is now likely to be available for the last seven matches of the Championship season can be a gamechanger in the automatic promotion race.
In other Leeds United team news, it can be REVEALED by Football Insider that the club are to hold talks with three brilliant players ahead of the summer transfer window.
