Joselu believes that there any many similarities between the fan bases of both Newcastle and his old club Real Madrid.
The 27-year-old only ever made two senior appearances for the La Liga side during a three year spell where he largely played in the B team.
Rafa Benitez snapped up Joselu from Stoke for £5million in August with the view of making him his main striker for the Premier League season.
It took the former Spain Under-21 international just two league appearances to find the back of the net for his new side when he scored in the 3-0 hammering of West Ham a week and a half ago.
After tasting the St. James’ Park atmosphere for the first time in a league game against the Hammers, Joselu is in the belief that the fans show a similar intensity to what those do at Champions League titans Real Madrid.
“Yes it reminds me of Madrid,” said the striker, as quoted by the Newcastle Chronicle. “All the people in the street in Newcastle love their team too.
“They love it that we are in the Premier League.
“The Premier League is where we should always be.
“It’s a big club, big city, and a big stadium.”
Joselu scored two goals in his two first-team appearances for Madrid in 2011 after he came off the bench against both Almeria and Ponferradina to find the net in emphatic wins.
There’s no doubt that he and his new Magpies team-mates will want to build upon their victory over West Ham this weekend when they return to league action with a trip to Swansea.
