Celtic have two options to take after Dembele transfer bombshell
With Moussa Dembele revealing the bombshell that he could leave Celtic in January’s transfer window, Brendan Rodgers and the Bhoys board have a huge decision to make.
It seems very likely that the 21-year-old French striker will be departing Glasgow sooner rather than later, with most thinking that he would be sold in the summer.
But this new twist puts the Hoops in a difficult position. Do they accept a huge transfer fee now, and put the wheels in motion for new signings, or wait until the summer?
Both positions have their advantages and disadvantages, if the player leaves in January then Celtic fans could turn on the club if an adequate replacement isn’t signed. If he is sold in the summer for huge money clubs might raise their prices when Celtic come calling for Dembele’s replacement.
The preferred option for Brendan Rodgers would be that the player is sold in the summer.

He would be available for Celtic’s upcoming Europa League campaign and defence of their domestic treble, and it would give the Hoops board and management time to scout a replacement.
It seems slightly unfortunate that such a good player is going to spend such a short amount of time at the club, but that was always going to be the case with Dembele, he’s bound for big things, and sadly the Scottish Premiership doesn’t fit the bill.
