‘Big’ Everton claim issued by pundit after source’s Morgan Gibbs-White reveal

Paul Robinson has claimed £25million is “a big price tag” for Everton to pay Wolves for Morgan Gibbs-White.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one fears the Toffees would be taking “a risk” by spending that much on the 22-year-old.

Everton are looking to revamp their squad after Richarlison departed in a £60million deal to Tottenham.

Everton

An Everton source told Football Insider (4 July) that Frank Lampard is in the market for a goalscoring midfielder and believes Gibbs-White fits the bill.

Wolves have slapped a £25million price tag on their player, who impressed on loan at Sheffield United last season.

Gibbs-White has two years remaining on his contract at Molineux.

When asked by Football Insider if the Blue should splash the cash on the Wolves player this summer, Robinson said: “He had a very good season in the Championship.

“Everton are clearly willing to take a chance on him.

“Look, £25million is hefty price tag for a player unproven in the Premier League when you look at Everton’s financial situation. It is a big price tag for a young player who has not really proved it at the top level.

“It would be a risk but perhaps one that is worth taking because he is very talented.”

Gibbs-White was one of the Championship’s best player last season.

He contributed 12 goals and 10 assists for the Blades in 37 appearances.
