'Fuming', 'How mad' - Leeds fans react to omission of in-form ace from team v Millwall

By Richard Parks

Leeds United fans have claimed that defender Liam Cooper will be sorely missed from their team for Saturday’s Championship clash against Millwall.

Manager Thomas Christiansen had indicated that the Leeds skipper would recover from the back injury he sustained in midweek to take his place in the starting XI at the New Den.

But Cooper was omitted from the line-up as youngster Conor Shaughnessy stepped in for his second league start of the season.

United are still without on-loan Everton centre-back Matthew Pennington, who has recovered from ankle ligament damage but is unlikely to be involved until next weekend’s meeting with Ipswich Town.

Christiansen’s line-up was otherwise unchanged with Leeds looking to retain their position at the top of the Championship.

Leeds fans are disappointed that the in-form partnership of Cooper and Pontus Jansson will be broken up following a run of six consecutive clean sheets in the league.
