Everton 28-yr-old may never play for club again if big-money reported attacker bid succeeds

Gylfi Sigurdsson may have played his last game for Everton.
The playmaker is sidelined with a knee injury and has admitted, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo, that he is in a race against time to feature for his club again this season.
Intriguingly, Everton are also in hot pursuit of a brilliant young player who could displace the Iceland international in the starting XI as a major summer overhaul is planned following a disappointing season.
The Sun claim the Merseysiders are one of the Premier League big hitters in the hunt to sign Norwich City attacking midfielder James Maddison this summer.
Intriguingly, it is said that the 21-year-old “is certain to leave this summer” and his club have slapped a £25million price tag on his head “knowing it is likely to be met”.

Given that Maddison has been one of the outstanding players in the Championship this season for a club rooted in mid-table, it is easy to see why Norwich are confident of a mega fee.
Everton’s interest is also understandable. The rising star is technically gifted, durable and can conjure and score goals, netting 14 times and supplying 10 assists for Norwich this season.
Norwich will still be in the second tier next season and selling Maddison could enable them to totally reshape their squad for a new promotion push.
It will also enable the England Under-21 international to step up to the Premier League, where he is destined to be before too long.
Should Everton succeed in their pursuit, it could spell curtains for Sigurdsson, who has had a hugely disappointing campaign after being signed from Swansea City for a £45million fee that grows more bewildering by the day.
Fine player, yes. Premier League superstar? Definitely not.
Sigurdsson has summed up the mediocrity at Goodison this season, with his statistics – four league goals and just three assists – as lamentable as his performances.
Should Everton land Maddison, it is surely inevitable that the club will listen to offers for the ex-Swan.
In other Everton transfer news, Madrid giants want to sign Toffees player this summer and are willing to pay an astonishing £40million to get him.
