Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips “has everything” to his game and would command a similar fee to West Ham’s Declan Rice in the summer.
That is the view of 2000 European Golden Shoe winner Kevin Phillips, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 25-year-old’s impressive performances over the festive period.
Phillips has made 14 appearances in the Premier League this season, including an impressive performance in the 3-0 loss at Spurs on Saturday.
However, the midfielder picked up his fifth booking of the campaign at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to rule him out of the Leeds’ next league fixture against Brighton.
His form for club and country has reportedly not gone unnoticed by the Premier League’s so-called ‘Big Six’ with Tottenham and Liverpool said to be keeping tabs on the player.
When asked by Football Insider how much the England international would be worth in today’s market, Phillips said: “He is becoming integral for Leeds.
“He is the platform for everything. When the goalkeeper has the ball the centre-halves split and he drops and gets the ball. Everything comes through him.
“He reads the game well, has a great range of passing – he has everything.
“The big problem for Leeds will be, come the summer, if a decent bid arrives for him.
“God knows how much he would be worth, probably a bid in the region of £50million I would say.
“What is Declan Rice being touted for? If he continues to perform he will be in the same bracket. He is a class act.”
