Bilic hints at West Ham team selection v Man City

By Dominic Toner

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has revealed that he will make changes against Manchester City, but will still play a strong side as he wants to do well in the FA Cup.

The Hammers host Premier League rivals Man City on Friday in the FA Cup third-round and managers often ring the changes for the competition.

West Ham have been extremely unfortunate to draw Man City in the third-round and must overcome one of the favourites for the competition.

The Londoners did it make it to the EFL Cup quarter-finals this season, but they were eliminated by Manchester United 4-1 at Old Trafford.

Bilic claims his team want to do well in the FA Cup this campaign and will field a strong side.

“There will be some changes to the team but we will put out a very strong side. We have big ambition to do well in the tournament,” Bilic said, as quoted by the club’s official Twitter account.

West Ham have won the FA Cup three times during their history and could do with a long cup run to make up for the disappointing league form.

They have not reached the final of the competition since 2006, when they were involved in a dramatic defeat to Liverpool as Steven Gerrard’s late goal took the game to extra-time, before losing on a penalties.

The Hammers have endured a disappointing season in the Premier League following their move to the London Stadium, with the club currently 13th-placed in the table.

Bilic’s side were expected to compete for a European spot this season, but instead are just seven points above the relegation places.

In other West Ham team news, the club would be best selling their disinterested player in January.
