Billy Gilmour won’t ‘turn down’ Rangers after transfer twist – expert
Alan Hutton has claimed Billy Gilmour will not turn down the offer to return to Rangers.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender said there is no point in Gilmour having another loan spell at a different Premier League team.
The 21-year-old left the Ibrox academy for Stamford Bridge in 2017 and looked set to be the next rising star after breaking into the Chelsea first team under Frank Lampard.
But following a lacklustre loan spell with Norwich and a difficult period since his move to Brighton, Glimour has struggled to fulfil his promise.
According to the Sun (19 November), the midfielder is open to moving to a European club on loan as he struggles to make an impact under Roberto De Zerbi.
As quoted by the Daily Record (8 December), former Scotland international Andy Walker said Gilmour’s heart is with Rangers but he would not want to quit the Premier League.
When asked if Gilmour could be lured away from the English top flight if the Light Blues came calling, Hutton told Football Insider: “I do not think you turn anything down.
“I think he will have to think about where his career is going at this moment in time. It has been difficult for him. He is an excellent player, he is still very young.

“It did not work at Chelsea, going to Brighton he has not had much game time so he needs to do what is best for him moving forward and that is playing football.
“There is no point in him leaving on loan to go to another Prem team. The opportunity to come back home, play in a top team in front of 50,000 every other week could be a good opportunity for him to shine and show everybody how good he is.“
