Birmingham City are open to loan offers for Lukas Jutkiewicz with Sam Cosgrove set to sign from Aberdeen, Football Insider understands.
The 31-year-old still has 18 months left on his contract at St. Andrew’s but has been deemed surplus to requirements with Cosgrove expected to complete a move south.
A recruitment source told Football Insider that Jutkiewicz has been given the green light to leave on loan ahead of tomorrow night’s deadline.
Jutkiewicz has made 24 appearances for Birmingham in the Championship this season but he has scored just twice.
The former Middlesbrough and Burnley man has spent the majority of his career in the Championship, his 348 appearances in the division have yielded 82 goals and 32 assists.
He began his career with Swindon Town before moving to Everton in July 2007.
However, he made just one senior appearance for the Toffees and was sent out on loan to Huddersfield and Motherwell before completing a permanent switch to Coventry in 2010.
Jutkiewicz joined Birmingham after spells at Middlesbrough and Burnley, initially on loan before making the move permanent for £1million in 2016.
Though he has struggled to find the back of the net in 2020-21, Jutkiewicz has enjoyed the best form of his career in recent seasons.
The striker was on target 14 times in 2019-20 to help Birmingham escape relegation by a single point.
Birmingham City boss Aitor Karanka has been coy when asked about Jutkiewicz’s future.
But it appears the Spanish manager has made his mind with Sam Cosgrove nearing a move to the club.
The Aberdeen striker has netted 47 times over the past three seasons.
