Birmingham City set for Monday medical as new star jets in to complete deal, it’s not Jhon Solis

Birmingham City are set to add two new faces to their squad in the coming days.

The Blues currently find themselves in the bottom half of the Championship table, but their aspirations of securing a swift promotion to the Premier League are expected to make it a busy few weeks for them in the market.

Birmingham have already added Kai Wagner to their squad, while Girona star Jhon Solis is on his way for a medical on Monday.

However, Chris Davies is set to get a third addition to his group imminently, on what looks like being a very busy day behind the scenes at St Andrew’s.

Abdoulie Manneh jets in for Birmingham medical

Birmingham are keen to add to their attack in January, and they now appear set to land a new attacker, with a deal to sign Abdoulie Manneh on the verge of going through.

The 21-year-old notched seven goals and three assists for Swedish side Mjallby on their way to their first ever Allsvenskan title in 2025, and now he is about to get his chance to prove himself in English football.

The forward is due to land in Birmingham on Monday, when he is also set to undergo a medical ahead of a transfer, according to Swedish outlet Fotboll Direkt.

All parties have an agreement for Manneh to complete the switch, and while the exact transfer fee is unclear at the moment, Mjallby are understood to have previously valued him at around the £3.2million mark.

Birmingham have beaten off competition from Coventry City, who were believed to have been in talks with Manneh in November, while Olympiacos also showed an interest last year.

Birmingham medicals will complete January transfer plan

Football Insider revealed back in December that Birmingham had a three-point plan for the upcoming window, and Monday’s medicals could see them complete that plan already.

The second city outfit wanted to add new options at left-back, centre-midfield and in attack, and with the imminent arrivals of Solis and Manneh, they appear to have achieved that goal.

Wagner has already bolstered the ranks on the left of the backline, while Solis is the powerhouse that they have desired at the base of the midfield.

Manneh can provide versatility as both a striker and a winger, meaning that Birmingham have already achieved all of their main goals for the window.

Any further additions would be a bonus for Davies and Co., but given the level of ambition that they possess as a club, it would be no surprise to still see a few more new faces arrive.
