Birmingham City shortlist Liam Rosenior for manager role – sources
Birmingham City have shortlisted Liam Rosenior as a potential candidate should their manager’s job become available, sources have told Football Insider.
Tony Mowbray’s health is believed to be improving, but his current situation means he is considered unlikely at this point to return to the dugout next season.
Rosenior is highly rated by the Blues and a number of other EFL clubs following his work at Hull City as well as his impressive assistant manager posting alongside Wayne Rooney at Derby County.
There was widespread surprise shared when the 39-year-old was sacked by the Tigers after narrowly missing out on a place in the Championship play-offs.
Rosenior is available without the need to pay compensation, but St Andrew’s chiefs are likely to face competition for his signature as Championship sides are showing interest in making him their new manager.

Birmingham are currently looking to put the pieces in place in case Mowbray isn’t able to resume his role next season.
The Blues announced in February the 60-year-old had temporarily stepped down as manager to seek medical treatment over an unnamed illness.
Gary Rowett took the job on an interim basis, but he was unable to prevent the club from being relegated to League One.
The work is now going on behind the scenes at Birmingham as they look to secure an instant return to the Championship next season.
Rosenior could be the man to lead that charge after being nominated for the Championship Manager of the Season award despite his sacking at Hull.
He led the Tigers to seventh in the table in his first full campaign in charge, finishing just three points behind Norwich City.
Football Insider revealed on 13 May that Steve Bruce is keen on making a return to St Andrew’s if Mowbray is unable to manage the club next season.
