Birmingham fans outraged as Knighthead line up ‘Wayne Rooney v2’ as new manager: ‘Atrocious’
Chris Davies’ future at Birmingham City is under threat after an awful recent set of results at the Blues.
The 1-1 draw against Derby on Boxing Day has left the West Midlands side 15th in the Championship, six points off the playoffs.
As a result, Davies could soon be facing the sack at Birmingham, with the manager currently not matching the lofty ambitions of the owners.
One potential replacement for the Englishman is Michael Carrick, but many of the St. Andrew’s faithful are unimpressed by this development.
Birmingham City fans against potential Michael Carrick appointment.
Football Insider revealed on Saturday that Carrick is a leading contender to be the next manager at Birmingham City if Davies were to depart.
The former Man United star has been out of work since the summer after leaving Middlesbrough.
His time at Boro is his only permanent role to date in the dugout, which came with mixed results.
His failure to deliver a promotion for Middlesbrough is the biggest concern, with Boro now flying in the Championship since his departure.
Therefore, after news emerged that Carrick could be in the Birmingham dugout, fans were quick to express their disgust at the news.
Not a fan didn’t get top 8 with that Boro side, he’s hardly gonna get much out of this squad. Has a Plan A and no alternative

this would be an atrocious decision. Sacking a manager that has a clear identity, has transformed our club and needs time with somebody that’s achieved nothing in football. No thanks

And as for the Carrick rumour doing the rounds, is he that much better, really?? Three seasons in Champ, one playoffs and two outside of the top six?? #BCFC #KRO

However, some fans are more open to the idea, considering he found some success at Middlesbrough.
Get him in

Michael Carrick’s record at Middlesbrough explained
During his time at Middlesbrough, Carrick oversaw 136 matches, winning 46.32 per cent.
As a result, he took Boro into the playoffs in his first campaign before losing to Coventry City in the semi-finals.
Carrick also guided Middlesbrough into the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup before they were defeated by Chelsea.
| Michael Carrick’s record at Middlesbrough | |
| Wins | 63 |
| Draws | 24 |
| Losses | 49 |
However, every season Boro declined under the former Man United star, finishing fourth, eighth and 10th in consecutive seasons.
Given this, it is understandable why Birmingham fans are pessimistic about a potential appointment, with Carrick arguably underperforming during his time at Middlesbrough.
