Blackburn Rovers & Bolton make moves to sign Sylvester Jasper – sources

Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers have made moves to sign former Fulham winger Sylvester Jasper on a free transfer, sources have told Football Insider.

Jasper, 22, is a free agent after mutually cancelling his contract at Portuguese club Portimonense before the close of the transfer window last month.

League One Bolton and Championship side Blackburn have registered their interest in signing the versatile forward as a free agent.

Eredivisie side NAC Breda are also monitoring Jasper’s situation.

Since Jasper is a free agent, he is not beholden to the transfer window and can sign for any club at any time.

Bolton and Blackburn battle for Sylvester Jasper signing

Jasper joined Portimonense from Fulham on a free transfer last summer after failed loan spells at Hibernian and Bristol Rovers.

He made 30 appearances, scoring two goals and providing two assists as the Portuguese minnows were relegated to the Liga Portugal 2.

Blackburn remain undefeated in the Championship so far, with two wins and two draws in their opening four games, placing them in fifth position.

In stark contrast, Lancashire rivals Bolton are currently in 18th place after suffering two successive 2-0 defeats to Charlton Athletic and Exeter City.

Bolton could be set to lose Victor Adeboyejo permanently after the forward was ruled out of their 3-2 over Barrow thanks to an injury sustained by a ‘hefty sneeze’.

Football Insider revealed (September 6) that Turkish club Goztepe have enquired about Adeboyejo before the close of the Turkish transfer window next week.
