Bodo/Glimt vs Tottenham ref watch: Three decisions Ivan Kruzliak got wrong
Ivan Kruzliak was in the spotlight as Tottenham salvaged a 2-2 draw against Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League.
Richarlison missed an early chance for Thomas Frank‘s side, unable to slot home following a pinpoint cross from Lucas Bergvall, and that came back to haunt Spurs on Tuesday, 30 September.
Bodo/Glimt had a chance to open the scoring from the penalty spot after Rodrigo Bentancur went steaming into a challenge in the first half, totally missing the ball inside the 18-yard box.
Despite Kasper Waarts Hogh missing his penalty, Jens Petter Hauge scored a brace, a goal on either side of Micky van de Ven‘s effort being ruled out for a foul, albeit he did eventually score, and an own goal helped secure a draw.
Tottenham drew 1-1 with Wolves at the weekend, and it was another disappointing performance for much of the game, but Spurs will feel that the referee’s performance did not help them in the slightest.
Wilson Odobert should have won a free-kick in a dangerous area
While attempting to dance around his opposition, Wilson Odobert was caught by right-back Fredrik Sjovold. Rather than blow his whistle, the referee simply waited for the winger to get back to his feet.
The 20-year-old was marked out for the majority of the game, but the one time he appeared likely to escape, Bodo/Glimt were simply allowed to foul him.
Frustratingly, just a few minutes later, the Norwegian top-flight team scored their first-ever Champions League goal, excluding qualifiers, through a beautiful strike from Hauge.
Micky van de Ven’s equaliser gets ruled out in Norway
Kruzliak was sent to the pitch-side monitor after Spurs scored an all-important equaliser through Van de Ven, and the Dutchman’s effort was eventually ruled out following a check.

The defender was adjudged to have pulled the opposition’s shirt, with the player falling to the floor in dramatic fashion, and the referee took no notice of the player also having an arm wrapped around Van de Ven.
Luckily, his second effort was allowed to stand 13 minutes later, and it turned out to be a key moment as Frank’s side staged a dramatic comeback away from home.
Rodrigo Bentancur escapes a sanction for Tottenham
Bentancur’s contract expires next summer, and after a number of mistakes over the last couple of seasons, some supporters might be ready to see the back of the midfielder.
His challenge to give away a penalty in the first half was incredibly reckless, and while Spurs were punished with a penalty against them, the Uruguayan did not even pick up a yellow card.
Fans will know just how familiar he is with sanctions, having picked up nine in the Premier League last season, and he was incredibly lucky not to see another for his challenge inside the 18-yard box.
