Botman reacts to Jacob Murphy message amid Ramsdale to Newcastle update

Jacob Murphy has posted to social media following Newcastle United’s pre-season preparations in Singapore.

The Magpies looked to put a 4-0 defeat to Celtic in Glasgow behind them, but could only manage another loss at the National Stadium, going down 3-2 against Arsenal on Sunday.

Now, they’ll travel to South Korea to face a K-League All Stars side, before another friendly in Seoul against Tottenham Hotspur.

It’s been an incredibly frustrating summer so far for Newcastle, who have missed out on the signings of Hugo Ekitike and James Trafford, and still face the very real possibility of losing Alexander Isak to Liverpool.

Jacob Murphy sends Singapore message

Murphy endured a mixed bag in the recent defeat to Arsenal, scoring an own goal in the 35th minute before levelling the scores just before the hour mark.

But the winger is seemingly still in good spirits, posting a selection of highlights from the match against Arsenal, including one of him celebrating the goal he scored at the right end of the pitch.

“Thank you for having us, Singapore,” Murphy captioned his post, including Singapore flag and white heart emojis.

Sven Botman and Matt Targett were among the Newcastle players to give Murphy a like, as was Seung-soo Park, who recently signed for the Magpies from K League 2 side Suwon Bluewings.

Newcastle pushing ahead with Ramsdale deal

While it’s been a tough summer on and off the pitch for Newcastle, relief appears to be on the way with the club making strides in their bid to sign Aaron Ramsdale.

Interest in Ramsdale only comes after missing out on the likes of James Trafford and Lucas Chevalier.

However, the 27-year-old will bring plenty of experience and quality on the ball between the sticks, while he also averaged a Premier League-high 4.2 saves per 90 minutes last season — despite conceding more goals than any other goalkeeper (66).

According to Fabrizio Romano, Ramsdale has already given the green light to a transfer, with Newcastle and Southampton now hashing out the details of a loan with option and a move is expected to happen.

Manager Eddie Howe will be relieved to get another deal over the line, but is taking some of the blame for Newcastle’s transfer window mishaps, according to Football Insider sources.
