Boubacar Kamara is pushing hard to make a return for Aston Villa, and his teammate has shared an update from the training ground.

The 26-year-old Frenchman has not featured since picking up his knee injury at the beginning of January, having to be replaced after just nine minutes during the FA Cup win over Tottenham.

Unai Emery has sincerely missed him in the middle of the park, especially with Youri Tielemans only just returning from the treatment table himself, with Amadou Onana carrying the torch at Villa Park.

Villa have been plagued by injuries, and while Kamara is unlikely to return before the 2025-26 campaign ends, it is the feel-good content that supporters love to see emerging from the club.

Alysson is the only other big name currently sidelined alongside Kamara, with Tielemans now returning to first-team training ahead of Villa’s clash with West Ham on Sunday, 22 March.

Taking to Instagram stories (20 March), Onana shared footage of the midfielder working his way back to full fitness, with the caption: “Il est soigne mon cousin wallay @bouba_darkoss.”

It roughly translates to, “He’s taking care of my cousin, I swear,” and supporters will be excited to see the Frenchman finally return to the pitch after suffering another injury at Villa Park.

The Frenchman is currently under contract at Villa Park until the summer of 2030, most recently penning terms in July 2025, having previously signed a five-year deal in 2022.

Unai Emery to take advantage of West Ham’s injury update

Tielemans’ return to training is not the only boost that Villa can take before heading into a must-win clash with the Hammers at the weekend.

Nuno Espirito Santo has already confirmed that Crysencio Summerville will take no part in the game at Villa Park, with the winger also left out of the Netherlands squad for the international break.

It is understood that Ollie Scarles is ready to play after missing the 1-1 draw with West Ham, but it would be a surprise to see the 20-year-old starting at Villa Park.

In fact, Summerville is the Hammers’ only absence for the clash, but it is a pretty major one, given that he has the joint-second-most goal contributions for the club in the Premier League this season.
