Bournemouth plan to accept Liverpool offer for Antoine Semenyo – sources

Bournemouth are expected to entertain offers for Antoine Semenyo amid interest from Liverpool, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the Cherries will not stand in the player’s way should he wish to make the move in the summer.

However, sources say a deal is unlikely to take place in January as Bournemouth do not want to sell mid-way through the season, while Liverpool are prioritising other positions.

The Reds are not expected to be among the biggest spenders in the winter window, but will make a move if the right opportunity presents itself.

Semenyo, 24, is one of the names on Liverpool’s radar as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah amid constant speculation surrounding his future at the club.

Following the 3-2 win against Southampton, the Egyptian claimed he was “more out than in”, and admitted no formal contract offer has been made.

While the Reds remain determined to keep him at the club beyond the end of the season, they have already begun assessing the market for potential replacements.

Liverpool handed boost in pursuit of Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo

Semenyo has enjoyed an excellent start to the season with Bournemouth, scoring four goals and providing one assist in 12 games so far.

He has stood out of one of the star players under Andoni Iraola, leading to interest from the likes of Newcastle United and Tottenham.

Football Insider revealed on 14 October that Bournemouth are susceptible to losing the 24-year-old despite him having signed a new five-year deal in July.

Now, Liverpool are prepared to rival both clubs in their pursuit of the Ghana international who they feel could go part of the way to replacing Salah.

Should the Egyptian make the much-rumoured move to Saudi Arabia at the end of the season, the club are expected to go big in the transfer market to replace him.
