Bournemouth’s response to ‘Chelsea interest in Dean Huijsen’ revealed
Bournemouth are doing all they can to keep hold of Dean Huijsen despite the growing level of interest in his recent performances.
This is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Bournemouth are not interested in losing a key player from Andoni Iraola’s squad.
While a late January deal would have been unlikely anyway, the Cherries efforts are set to continue into the summer amid reported interest from Chelsea.
The 19-year-old arrived at the Vitality Stadium from Juventus just six months ago for a fee of £12.6million, and is now thought to be worth more than triple that fee.
Since his emergence in the first-choice starting XI under Iraola, Bournemouth are unbeaten in ten Premier League games and have kept five clean sheets in that time.
His growing importance in the side, as well as his young age and the level of interest in his progress, have made the club determined to keep hold of him beyond this season.
He also remains a vital part of their ambitions for the rest of the Premier League campaign as they currently sit seventh, harbouring hopes of European qualification.
Bournemouth ‘doing all they can’ to keep Dean Huijsen
After joining Bournemouth just six months ago, the central defender has five years remaining on his current contract, placing the cards firmly in the hands of the club.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that they will not be phased by interest in his talents given their impressive league form this season.
“They will fight tooth and nail to keep him at the club,” he told Football Insider.
“I’d expect they’ll do everything they can to ward off interest from other Premier League clubs.
“He looks a real player. He’s got good structure, covers the ground well, handles the ball brilliantly, he’s good in the air, and he’s got a lot of things going for him.
“I’ve been shocked by how well Bournemouth have done this season, and he’s been a huge part of that.
“Having only just come to the club, I can’t see them wanting to let him go any time soon.

“He’s going to be key to their plans this season and hopefully, for them, that will extend well beyond the end of this season.
“Every player in that squad brings their own qualities, they’re all important, but he’s been so impressive.”
