Bournemouth stars react as Justin Kluivert is recognised for setting world record

Bournemouth’s Justin Kluivert was rewarded after setting a world record, drawing reaction from his former and current teammates.

Bournemouth have bounced back impressively in the Premier League after Andoni Iraola’s side lost to Liverpool on the opening day.

Since then, the Cherries have won all three games and sit fourth in the league table with nine points. Kluivert has impressed for the side in the Carabao Cup, despite their early exit to Brentford.

The Dutchman was key under Iraola in the 2024-25 season, as he netted 13 times whilst also providing eight assists across all competitions.

Now, his efforts have been formally recognised as the winger has finally been rewarded after he set a world record last season.

Justin Kluivert handed Guinness World Record after historic hat-trick

Kluivert became the first player in a Premier League match to score a hat-trick of penalties after the side beat Wolves 4-2 last season.

He was finally rewarded in the side’s latest fixture with a Guinness World Record plaque.

The official club account posted a video after the result with messages from his teammates on the match ball, with Max Aarons humorously calling him “Tiny boy” and Marcus Tavernier writing “Hat-trick hero”.

Former and current teammates shared a response to the recent post, with Illia Zabarnyi, Evanilson and David Brooks all liking the post.

Following his impressive displays, Kluivert has also been linked with a switch to Bayer Leverkusen, but a move didn’t materialise as the side had already lost several key players.

This season, the Dutchman has been used more in a rotational role with Antoine Semenyo and David Brooks both delivering strong performances to keep competition for places high.

Bournemouth braced for Antoine Semenyo offers

While Kluivert was linked with a move away, another player that continues to gather interest is Semenyo.

Football Insider revealed that Bournemouth are readying themselves for heavy interest in Semenyo next year after rejecting approaches in the latest transfer window.

Semenyo committed his future to Bournemouth earlier in the summer, but interest remained from the likes of Tottenham and Man United.

It is understood that the Cherries are already preparing to potentially lose the winger next summer, with expectations inside the club that it may be difficult to hold on for another campaign.
