Bournemouth tell agents and clubs ‘never’ as Kerkez, Semenyo and Huijsen wanted

Bournemouth have made their position crystal clear as major clubs look to sign star players such as Milos Kerkez, Antoine Semenyo, and Dean Huijsen.

The Cherries have been in electric form this season, pushing for European qualification under Andoni Iraola.

However, that good form has caused Europe’s elite to take notice, with a number of their top stars attracting interest ahead of the summer transfer window.

Huijsen is a target for Liverpool and Real Madrid, and with a reported £50million release clause, the Spaniard seems destined for an exit this summer.

Kerkez is also attracting interest from Liverpool, as the Merseyside club look for an alternative to Andy Robertson, following a disappointing season from Scotland’s captain.

Meanwhile, Mick Brown revealed to Football Insider exclusively, Newcastle have identified Semenyo as a target this summer, as they look to strengthen their right-hand side.

Finally, Justin Kluivert is also on the Magpies’ radar, having finally found a suitable home on the South Coast, having played for five clubs since 2020.

Whilst this summer seems set to be a busy one at the Vitality Stadium, a report by The Telegraph has revealed some interesting insights into the Cherries’ transfer strategy this summer.

Bournemouth will ‘never’ sell all their star players in the same season

Huijsen will likely leave, not only due to his release clause, but also due to Bournemouth’s willingness to let him go, having convinced him to make the move as a stepping stone to a bigger club.

The Spaniard’s sale will be a straightforward one this summer, it will simply be down to the defender choosing where he wishes to move next.

For the other players however, it is not quite as simple. Despite the strong interest, Bournemouth are reportedly very clear to players, agents and other clubs, they will “never” sell four or five players in the same season.

The Cherries want to remain competitive and will only authorise sales when the timing works for them.

Bournemouth would be prepared to sell one or two of their star players in a season and when they do, it will only be for a significant profit, but a gutting of the squad won’t be countenanced.

Premier League giants begin mad-dash to secure Bournemouth’s talents

Football Insider Verdict

If Bournemouth staunchly stick by their plans to sell only one or two of their stars in a season, the race has truly begun.

With Huijsen probably a certainty to be leaving the Vitality this season, that leaves room for one more departure.

Illya Zabarnyi has attracted his fair share of interest, but Bournemouth will undoubtedly want to keep their defender with his partner at the back heading out the door.

It would also be surprising to see Kluivert leave, as the Dutchman has struggled to settle at a club in recent years and has found some brilliant form this season. Which would then leave Kerkez, or Semenyo, as the up-for-grab candidates.

Liverpool are desperately keen to recruit a new left-back and the Hungarian has taken the Premier League by storm this season, whilst still only being 21-years-old.

Semenyo, meanwhile, would fix a lot of Newcastle’s issues on the wing, pairing nicely in a trio with Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak.

It may well be a scenario of whichever club can agree a deal first, gets their man, and both clubs may look to steal a march on the other when the Premier League‘s new transfer window opens on 1 June.
