Bournemouth v Liverpool injury shocks Sky Sports pundit: ‘It’s horrible’
Liverpool took another step towards the Premier League title with victory over Bournemouth but Sky Sports pundit Kris Boyd was left horrified by one incident early on in that game.
A Mo Salah double – the first of which came from a somewhat controversially awarded penalty – was enough to secure all three points for Arne Slot’s side against the Cherries on Saturday (1 February).
Prior to that though, one incident early in the game had left Boyd concerned, as Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams came off worse from a clash with Alexis Mac Allister.
As the Liverpool man broke into the home side’s penalty following a one-two with Salah in the opening five minuted, Adams attempted to track back and prevent the Argentina international’s progress.
In doing so the pair collided, with Adams face making heavy contact with the back of Mac Allister’s head, leaving the Bournemouth man bloodied and needing treatment.
Speaking about the incident on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday, former Rangers striker Boyd said (3:04pm):
“It’s Adams who’s down, there was nothing in it, he didn’t mean it. They came together, oh it’s horrible.
“His face has went in the back of Alexis Mac Allister. He’s down on the ground right now in pain. It is in the box but it’s not a penalty kick, he doesn’t mean it. His lip’s all burst open.”
Liverpool win at Bournemouth extra painful for Adams
Football Insider Verdict
In the end Adams would continue to play on despite that blow, remaining on the pitch for the whole of the game.
The collision was clearly accidental with no malice from either player, and as such there was never any chance of Liverpool being awarded a penalty in this situation.
Even so, this will have been a tough moment for the midfielder given there was some considerable force in the collision between the two players.
In that way there was some bravery shown from Adams by continuing on for the rest of the game, which turned into a frustrating one for Bournemouth.

Given some of the excellent results they have produced recently they may have fancied their chances of picking up another, even against a Liverpool side sat top of the Premier League.
Ultimately things did not work out in that way, with Salah making the difference to again provide a reminder of how important it is for his side to agree a new contract for him.
In other news, Liverpool have been tipped to sell one player in the summer under one condition.
