Bournemouth’s Alex Scott issues one-word reaction after exit announcement
Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott has reacted emotionally after a confirmed exit announcement.
Scott has been shining at the Under-21 European Championships with England over the last few weeks, with a goal and an assist each in three appearances as Lee Carsley’s side look to defend their crown in Slovakia.
The 20-year-old suffered numerous injury concerns last season at Bournemouth, and was limited to just 20 Premier League appearances after a meniscus tear saw him ruled out for four months between October and February.
Another injury issue at the back-end of the campaign means he is currently playing with a protective face mask after suffering a fractured jaw as he aims to rediscover his impressive form from his first campaign with the Cherries.
Scott joined Bournemouth from Championship side Bristol City back in 2023 for a fee of £25million [The Guardian], and he has kept close ties to the Robins in the years that have followed after two strong seasons with the club earned him a top-flight move.

Alex Scott reacts to Bristol City’s Nahki Wells exit announcement
Scott spent three-and-a-half years at Ashton Gate, with two of those in the first-team as he enjoyed a rapid rise to become a key player in the middle of the park for the Robins.
The 21-year-old played with some Robins heroes in his time at the club, and none maybe more so than Bermudian international striker Nahki Wells, who moved to City from Burnley in January 2020.
Bristol City revealed on 17 May that they were still in negotiations with the 35-year-old as he neared the end of his contract, but no agreement has been reached, and they have now announced his departure with a statement on social media, saying: “We can confirm that Nahki Wells will leave the club following the conclusion of his contract at the end of June. Wells departs after five-and-half years in the West country where he scored 48 times in 237 appearances across all competitions.
“A popular character in the dressing room and in the stands, the Bermudian forward will be fondly remembered by all at Ashton Gate. Wells scored on his full debut in a 3-2 win over Derby County in February 2020, and remained a consistent figure as City recorded four consecutive improved league finishes during his time here.”
The Robins’ post was reacted to by Wells’ former teammate Scott, who left a like and also commented a message to the striker, calling him a “legend” for his exploits at the club.
Wells would still be a strong Championship option
Football Insider verdict
Wells’ impact on all at Ashton Gate is clear to see, with supporters commenting their messages of support and apprecation for his efforts in their hundreds following his departure.
The 35-year-old himself penned a statement to those fans, saying he had built a “massive connection” to many at the club and had “so many special memories” [Bristol City] from his time in the south-west.
Appearances | Goals | Assists |
237 | 48 | 19 |
While he is certainly not at the peak of his powers and does not have time on his side in terms of age, the Bermudian international is still surely a Championship-standard player, given the fact he scored 10 goals in the league last season.
An emotional return to his old club Bradford City is likely to be mooted this summer, following their promotion to League One, but Wells is surely set to be handed a chance to continue in the second-tier for at least another season.
