Brendan Rodgers and ex-Man United boss joint favourites to be next Wolves manager
Wolves have sacked Vitor Pereira and the race to be the club’s next manager is underway
The Midland giants announced at lunchtime on Sunday that they have parted company with the 57-year-old after he led the 20th-placed Premier League side to their 10th winless game in the competition this season.
Fulham beat the Midlands-based side 3-0 at Craven Cottage on Saturday (1 November), to subject them to their eighth league defeat of the season.
Wolves sit bottom of the league with just two points, and are already eight points adrift of Burnley in 17th.
Brendan Rodgers and Erik Ten Hag in race for Wolves job
Brendan Rodgers has been linked with the Wolves job in recent weeks and is the joint 2/1 favourite to replace Pereira (bettingodds.com).
Former Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag is also at 2/1 to complete a shock return to the Premier League.
Ten Hag was recently sacked by Bayer Leverkusen after just two league games in charge, meaning he is now looking for a new club.
Sergio Conceicao is in the running at 6/1, with another former Man United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, at 10/1.
Brendan Rodgers eyeing Premier League return
Football Insider revealed last week that Rodgers is keen to return to the Premier League after quitting Celtic, and the Wolves job is now available.
Rodgers left the Glasgow giants on Monday (27 October) evening, with the Hoops eight points adrift of Hearts in the Scottish Premiership.
Sources say that the Northern Irishman believes his track record in the Premier League, at Liverpool and Leicester City, makes him an attractive proposition for English clubs.
There would also be no compensation fee to hire Rodgers after his dramatic resignation, and his camp believe that could be key for clubs scouring the market for a proven top-flight manager.
