Brendan Rodgers backed to win over Celtic fans after source’s offer reveal – pundit

Celtic fans will get behind Brendan Rodgers as the next manager.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Rangers defender Alan Hutton insisted that any bad blood between Rodgers and the supporters will be dispelled if he get off to a winning start at Parkhead.

Last week (14 June), Football Insider revealed that the 50-year-old is set to return as Hoops boss after being offered a very lucrative contract by the club.

Negotiations over the Northern Irishman’s backroom staff are believed to have taken place earlier in the week as his appointment edges closer.

Rodgers enjoyed an extremely successful spell in Glasgow during his previous tenure, securing three consecutive domestic trebles with the Scottish side.

But after abandoning Celtic to take up the job at Leicester City half way through the 2018-19 season, many fans are not keen on his return.

When asked what Rodgers has to do to win over the Celtic fans, Hutton told Football Insider:I think by playing a similar brand of football to Ange [Postecoglou], by winning.

These are the simple things but that is how you get fans onside. If he starts the season well, the recruitment is good, he is winning games, then they fans will be on his side.

You listen to what Ange said when he first signed, a lot of people didn’t know who he was but the fans got behind him and look what happened. I think the same will go for Brendan Rodgers.

The plus side is he knows the team, know what it is all about, so he has got a good feel for it. I think the fans will get behind him if he is appointed.
