Brendan Rodgers: Celtic make move for their former manager in new twist – sources

Celtic have made contact with Brendan Rodgers in the latest twist to their managerial search, sources have told Football Insider.

Parkhead chiefs have turned their attention to what would be a sensational deal to lure back their former boss, 50, following his departure from Leicester City earlier this year.

Bodo Glimt boss Kjetil Knutsen is also on the Celts’ radar after talks with Ajax over a potential appointment broke down.

Francesco Farilio, 34, has also been shortlisted as Celtic attempt to secure a deal for a new manager ahead of pre-season, while the club are also keeping close tabs on David Moyes’s situation at West Ham.

The Hoops are in the hunt for a new boss following the departure of Ange Postecoglou who takes over as Tottenham’s manager after an incredibly successful two years in Glasgow.

The Australian secured back to back league titles and entered the history books earlier this month when he secured the Scottish champions their eighth domestic treble.

The 57-year-old has left the club with a spot in the Champions League group stage for the 2023-24 season as well as a Scottish Premiership title to defend.

On 8 June Football Insider revealed that the Hoops are blocking assistant manager John Kennedy from joining Postecoglou at Tottenham.

There is a clause in Postecoglou’s contract that prevents him from taking members of the club’s staff with him to his next club and Celtic are believed to be exploiting that as they look to stop an exodus of their coaches to north London.
