‘Brendan Rodgers could quit Celtic – he wants to join Premier League club’
Brendan Rodgers could quit Celtic at the end of his current contract as he has one eye on a return to the Premier League.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson explained that the 52-year-old’s long-term future at Parkhead is in doubt as he remains on the fence over signing a new deal.
With just one year remaining on his contract, the boss has not ruled out a departure in 2026 and has refused to commit his future to the SPFL winners.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider last month that Rodgers could leave Celtic if he is not backed in the summer transfer window.
Rodgers wants to improve his squad this summer to give them a chance of being competitive in Europe, and expects the board to lend him financial support.
This comes after Football Insider revealed in April that Rodgers will demand the Celtic board back him and could grow unhappy at Parkhead if they do not agree.

Brendan Rodgers could leave Celtic amid contract admission
Football Insider revealed Celtic are set to hold talks with Rodgers in the off-season to discuss his future, with a potential long-term contract up for grabs.
However, the lack of development in those talks as confessed by Rodgers in recent quotes has cast further doubt about whether he could remain in Glasgow.
Robinson explained that the boss has one eye on returning to the Premier League after he left Leicester in 2023 as the Foxes went on to be relegated.
“It’s an interesting situation, this one,” he told Football Insider.
“Brendan Rodgers is sitting on very neutral ground, and I wouldn’t be surprised looking at it if he has one eye on coming back to the Premier League.
“Whether it’s another go or another opportunity somewhere, he fancies his chances coming back to the Premier League at some point.
“It immediately closes the door on a potential Premier League move if he comes out saying ‘I’m staying, I’m not going anywhere, I’m going to sign a new deal’.
“This is one to keep an eye on.
“He’s playing it cleverly because he has got one eye on coming back to the Premier League.
“He’s been very non-committal either way.”

Daizen Maeda contract update emerges at Parkhead
While speculation about Rodgers’ future continues to rumble on behind-the-scenes, Celtic remain determined to keep their best players at Parkhead.
Football Insider revealed on 18 July that Celtic want Daizen Maeda to extend his contract and are closing in on an agreement over a new deal.
The Japan international is believed to be very happy at Parkhead and is keen to put pen to paper on a new deal should he feel the club matches his ambitions.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 4 July that Tottenham are interested in signing Maeda, but would have to pay £25million to prise him away from Celtic.
