Once in your life: Brendan Rodgers reveals Maldini message that can help Celtic beat Bayern
By John Reid
Brendan Rodgers is hopeful that the unique atmosphere at Celtic Park on big European nights will drive Celtic on to a positive result against Bayern Munich.
The Celtic manager has revealed that players like Maldini and Messi have all talked highly about the atmosphere at Celtic Park.
“I’ve been to places like the Allianz Arena and the Nou Camp and they are fantastic but nothing can compare with the noise of Celtic Park on a Champions League night” the Celtic manager told the Daily Record.
“Guys like Paolo Maldini have spoken about this and said you have to at least play at Celtic Park once in your life. The Messis and Iniestas of this world have said the same.
“You look at the Champions League match against Man City…That was just a phenomenal atmosphere and it can move a player and unsettle a player.”

The noise and passion at Celtic Park on Champions League nights has helped to spur Celtic on to some great results in the not so distant past.
Celtic’s 3-3 draw with Manchester City in the Champions League last season was a throwback to Celtic’s previous great European results.
In the last ten years, the likes of Barcelona, Ajax, Benfica and Spartak Moscow have all been defeated at Celtic Park.
However, Celtic’s recent home record in the Champions League is relatively poor, with no victories in the last five games at Celtic Park.
Celtic’s fans were recently named as ‘FIFA Best Fans of 2017’ for a display which saluted the 50th anniversary of the Lisbon Lions, and a similar display will no doubt be present at the upcoming game against Bayern Munich.
