Brendan Rodgers ‘in contention’ for Premier League return after Fulham reveal

Brendan Rodgers is considering a return to the Premier League after resigning from his position at Celtic in dramatic circumstances last month.

Rodgers resigned as manager of Celtic in October after his second spell at the club, against a backdrop of disagreements with the board over transfer strategy.

However, he could look to make a return to the top-level management sooner than expected as he continues to be linked with a return to the Premier League.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the former Celtic boss is expected to be in contention for any job that comes up in the English top flight, and remains very highly regarded within managerial circles.

This comes after Football Insider exclusively revealed last month that Rodgers is keen to return to England and is assessing his options after leaving Glasgow.

Brendan Rodgers being considered for Premier League return

Rodgers was linked with the Wolves job following Vitor Pereira‘s dismissal, but they opted to pursue Rob Edwards instead, leaving the former Celtic boss searching for his next role.

While no job are available in the Premier League as things stand, Rodgers is expecting to be among the key contenders should a position emerge for him.

As I explained on the Inside Track podcast, “Yeah, I’m sure he’d be somebody who’s maybe on their list because he’s out of work, Brendan Rodgers.

“He’s probably one of the best free-agent managers on the market right now as well, he’s Premier League proven from his time at Liverpool and Leicester and had success at Celtic.

“If there’s any club out there who needs a manager at the highest level, Brendan Rogers is going to be in contention. There’s no doubt about that.

“He’s still regarded as one of the best managers around, and his availability will attract interest from a lot of clubs.

“Any top jobs that do come up between now and in the new year, Brendan Rodgers is obviously going to figure in the thinking of a number of clubs.”

Fulham considering Rodgers to replace Marco Silva

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 18 November that Fulham could approach Rodgers about taking over from Marco Silva amid doubts over the manager’s position.

Silva has been offered a new contract at Fulham as his current deal is set to expire in 2026, but there are lingering doubts about whether he will extend his stay.

As a result, work has already begun to identify long-term replacements, with the former Liverpool boss emerging among the big-name contenders for the job.

Silva wants assurances over Fulham’s transfer plans amid suggestions he could walk away if not given the board’s backing in the January transfer window.

However, Football Insider revealed on 14 November that Fulham are determined to agree terms with Silva to end any speculation about his position in West London.
