Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Celtic are hoping to make two last-gasp signings before the transfer window closes on Wednesday night.
He has admitted that one of the players is expected to be a goalkeeper, but wasn’t giving much away about what position the other arrival may play in.
The Bhoys boss also disclosed that he hoped that no players leave the club before the end of the transfer window.
“There’s no update as yet; it’s between the clubs really to see what we can organise,” Rodgers said, as quoted by the Scotsman.
“There’s nothing else other than Charly, a goalkeeper, and maybe one other. I don’t anticipate anyone else going out at this point.”
The goalkeeper may well be Motherwell’s Trevor Carson, as the Bhoys reportedly had a £200,000 bid for the player rejected on Monday night.
Football Insider verdict
Some very interesting quotes from the Hoops manager, the Bhoys are obviously in need of a new goalkeeper following the injury suffered by Craig Gordon, and Carson, who starred for the Steelmen against the Bhoys earlier this season, fits the bill. The other player in may well be Dundee’s Jack Hendry, who Rodgers is known to be a fan of. Supporters will also be encouraged with the statement that he expects no players to leave the Bhoys, but of course things may change if the Hoops receive a huge bid for the likes of Moussa Dembele or Stuart Armstrong in the next 48 hours.
