Brenden Aaronson: Leeds brace for offers as expected timeline revealed

Brenden Aaronson has impressed for Leeds United recently and could be targeted by other clubs if he shines at the World Cup with the USA this summer.

Leeds are planning to offer Aaronson a new contract at the end of this season as he enters the final year of his current deal.

He has been a key man for Daniel Farke over the last two seasons, and looks set to be a part of Mauricio Pochettino’s USA squad at their home World Cup in the summer.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Aaronson could attract transfer attention if he impresses for the Stars and Stripes at the tournament.

Leeds’ transfer plans are set to depend on which league they are playing in next season, but they have no plans to let Aaronson leave regardless of whether they are relegated to the Championship.

Leeds could lose Brenden Aaronson after strong World Cup showing

Farke has favoured Aaronson over several of the Whites’ attackers this season, and is believed to be pushing to tie him down at Elland Road beyond next year.

Leeds may well look to accelerate contract talks with the playmaker before the World Cup in case he impresses at the tournament, and teams want to sign him after it.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “If he goes to the World Cup and has a good tournament, I’m sure there’ll be a number of clubs who will be keeping tabs on the attacker as well.

“For Leeds right now, they just want Aaronson to perform to the highest level possible to try and secure Premier League survival.”

Leeds fending off interest in Pascal Struijk ahead of summer window

Struijk has also been a key part of Leeds’ survival effort under Farke this season, with 28 Premier League appearances to his name so far.

He is their longest-serving player as it stands, having joined in 2018, but is a wanted man ahead of the summer after some impressive top-flight showings.

Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Leeds are desperate to keep Struijk, with the likes of Tottenham, Aston Villa and Newcastle all interested in his signature.

Much like Aaronson, his contract is also set to expire in 2027, and so they need to agree to new terms as soon as possible to fend off such interest.
