Brennan Johnson to push for summer exit at Crystal Palace amid Oliver Glasner sack latest
Brennan Johnson may already have one eye on the exit door amid the managerial uncertainty at Crystal Palace.
The winger only made the move to Selhurst Park during the recent January transfer window, but things haven’t gone to plan for him so far, and he is still chasing his first goal for his new club.
The Eagles shelled out an eye-catching £35million to sign the Wales international from Tottenham, who sanctioned his mid-season exit due to him slowly falling out of favour with Thomas Frank.
Johnson’s opening weeks with the South London outfit have undoubtedly not matched the expectations, and he could now be about to search for an escape route already amid the current managerial situation.
Brennan Johnson finished at Crystal Palace if Thomas Frank is appointed
Football Insider revealed last week that Frank is a leading candidate to replace Oliver Glasner whenever he leaves Selhurst, whether that be at the end of the season or sooner.
The Austrian is facing intense pressure in South London at the moment, and his team have now won just one of their last 15 games in all competitions as tensions are mounting among the fanbase.
The club hierarchy have now put their cards on the table in relation to the boss’ future, with Palace Report suggesting via their X account that Steve Parish is set to pull the trigger and sack Glasner if the next three or four games do not spark an improvement.
That is sure to have sparked fear for Johnson, given the fact that the possible replacement for the 51-year-old could be the man who forced him out of Spurs just months before.
Frank quickly made it clear that he didn’t fancy the wideman as part of his team, despite him ending the previous campaign as Spurs’ top scorer, and he would potentially use him as little more than a bit-part player once again if he took over at Palace.

With that in mind, Johnson would surely be keen to try and get away for the good of his career, rather than risk being forced to the fringes of the squad once again.

Crystal Palace got the wrong end of Johnson agreement
Johnson holds a special place in the eyes of the Tottenham fanbase after he netted the winner in their Europa League triumph last May, but their thoughts were clear when he was sold in January.
The Lilywhites faithful were delighted with the fact that their club had netted £35m for him, and they have already been proved right in the weeks since the transfer.
It has quickly become clear that their counterparts have ended up on the wrong end of the agreement, as Johnson hasn’t lived up to his pricetag so far.
Palace are not a club that have money to burn when it comes to their transfer business, and they cannot afford to make too many big-money signings that do not pay off for them.
They will be desperately hoping that Johnson can come good eventually, but the writing may soon be on the wall for him if Frank steps into the dugout.
