‘Brentford are under serious attack’ – Liverpool and Tottenham make moves for Nathan Collins

Brentford are bracing themselves for “serious” Nathan Collins offers following interest from Liverpool and Tottenham.

Football Insider revealed on 10 August Liverpool face a difficult task trying to sign Collins due to his importance at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The 24-year-old played every minute in the Premier League last season and has been appointed as Brentford’s new captain by Keith Andrews following Christian Norgaard’s move to Arsenal.

Manchester United have also been linked with Collins alongside Liverpool and Tottenham this summer.

Brentford have already lost Norgaard, Bryan Mbeumo and Mark Flekken in this transfer window, while former manager Thomas Frank joined Tottenham

Liverpool line Nathan Collins up as Marc Guehi alternative

This article contains exclusive comment from Keith Wyness, former Everton, Aston Villa and Aberdeen CEO.

Liverpool are considering making a move to sign Collins as they look to improve their defensive options this summer.

Marc Guehi has been linked with a switch to Anfield, but Arne Slot’s side have so far failed to agree a deal with Crystal Palace.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness said: “I know Keith Andrews is going to be hating us.

“I mean, all we’re talking about is Brentford players and this is their captain now as well. He’s no doubt a player that is very well thought of and he’s only 24.

“He’s a great young talent and I think Liverpool, he’s there as a backup in case Guehi doesn’t come from Crystal Palace.

“I think Spurs would love him alongside Micky van de Ven, and that would give them one potent back line as well.

“So, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Spurs come in for that one as well. I mean, he’s a talent.

“I think Brentford are going to have to gird their loins for some serious attacks from two or three clubs coming up towards the end of the window.”

Liverpool plan to accept Kostas Tsimikas offer

In terms of a potential exit at Anfield, recruitment expert Mick Brown told Football Insider Liverpool are planning to sell Kostas Tsimikas before the end of the transfer window.

Slot made a clear statement about the 29-year-old’s position in the team after he was left out of the squad for the Community Shield and the opening-day victory over Bournemouth.

It comes after Liverpool have signed Milos Kerkez to rival Andy Robertson for the left-back spot at Anfield.
