Brentford ‘exploit Heathrow location’ as signing spree intensifies

Brentford are set to undergo a signing spree as they have to agree deals “quickly” following multiple exits.

Former manager Thomas Frank joined Tottenham as their new boss last month, with Keith Andrews appointed as his successor in west London.

Meanwhile, star players Bryan Mbeumo, Christian Norgaard and Mark Flekken have all left the Bees this summer.

Yoane Wissa has also been heavily linked with a Brentford exit, with Tottenham, Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest believed to be in the race for his signature.

Finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider the Bees are in a “solid” position financially as they look to ramp up their own transfer business over the coming weeks.

It has been confirmed UK-based South African businessman Gary Lubner and English filmmaker Matthew Vaughn have bought a minority stake in Brentford’s parent company.

The deal is believed to value the club, which is owned by Matthew Benham, at around £400million.

Brentford are ‘attractive’ proposition for new investors

Borson insisted Brentford are an “attractive” proposition to new investors due to their west London location.

He told Football Insider: “We know what’s happened this summer.

“They have lost all sorts of players, either actually done deals or about to be done. So, they’re going to have to buy and have to get busy quite quickly.

“I think we’ll see a number of deals being done, and they’re in a solid position.

“I think the valuation that they’ve achieved is pretty impressive for a minority stake in a small club.

“But it is effectively a central London Premier League franchise, if you’re looking at it in American terms, and that’s quite attractive.

“Players love the fact that the club is close to Heathrow.

“If you’re an international owner or you want to be attractive to an international audience, having a club that’s a stone’s throw from Heathrow and also close to some nice residential parts of London is obviously attractive.

“I think that all goes into the mix of why they’ve been able to get that, and it’s put them in a good position.

“They have got lots of cash now ready to rebuild the side, which they’ll have to do.”
