Brentford have glaring advantage over Fulham – and it’s all thanks to Keith Andrews
Brentford will be looking to flex one of their biggest strengths as they prepare to face Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday.
Keith Andrews will be looking for his side to build on their last result as Brentford drew 2-2 with Chelsea last Saturday.
It was a summer of upheaval at Brentford, who lost three major assets with Thomas Frank, Bryan Mbeumo, and Yoane Wissa all departing the GTech Community Stadium.
Andrews was given the tough task of following on from Frank, who is a legend at Brentford, having earned the club promotion to the Premier League.
Brentford’s win against Aston Villa has been Andrews’s only success since taking charge this summer, earning a fourth point at home against Chelsea.

Brentford are long throw-in masters
Brentford’s opponents, Fulham, have made a more positive start to their Premier League campaign, earning five points from their first four matches.
One area that Brentford will look to target in Fulham’s ranks is their poor defensive record from throw-ins, something that Andrews’ side excels in.
The Bees have scored seven goals from throw-ins since the start of the 2024-25 season, five more than the next closest team.

On the contrary, Fulham have conceded three goals from throw-ins across the same period, the joint-most in the Premier League since the start of the 2024-25 season.
Most goals conceded from throw-ins since the start of 2024-25 | Goals conceded |
Fulham | 3 |
Bournemouth | 3 |
Manchester United | 2 |
Arsenal | 2 |
Tottenham Hotspur | 2 |
Fulham are joint-top of that list with Bournemouth and Southampton, and have conceded 14 goals from set pieces overall, the seventh-most since the start of the 2024-25 Premier League season.
Brentford’s long throw-ins don’t require height
Brentford, who are now led by their former set-piece coach, Andrews, utilise set pieces as a marginal gain over their opponents, who often have superior budgets.
What’s intriguing from Brentford’s perspective is that the Bees don’t rely on tall players to head in their long throw-ins, with five of the seven goals they’ve scored coming from players who are five feet nine or below.

Newcastle’s summer signing Yoane Wissa accounted for four of the seven goals Brentford scored from throw-ins since the start of the 2024-25 season, standing at just 5′ 9″.
Since the start of 2024-25 in the Premier League, Brentford have accounted for 29 per cent of all the throw-in goals scored in the league.
The seventh throw-in goal in that run came from Fabio Carvalho against Chelsea on Saturday, in dramatic fashion, earning Brentford a late point over their West London rivals.
Andrews will hope his side can further capitalise on their strength and exploit an obvious weakness for Fulham when the two meet at Craven Cottage on Saturday evening.
