‘Brentford backed to complete Harvey Elliott deal amid Liverpool uncertainty’
Brentford have been tipped to make a swoop for Harvey Elliott amid the uncertainty surrounding his Liverpool future.
After the 22-year-old made just two Premier League starts for the Reds last term, Football Insider have exclusively revealed that Brighton are working on a deal to sign Elliott.
But Brentford are one of several top-flight clubs who could reap the benefits of hi-jacking the Seagulls’ attempts to sign the former Fulham man.
Elliott is currently shining on international duty for the England Under-21s and will hope to lead Lee Carsley’s side to European Championship final glory against Germany on Saturday, 28 June.

Elliott outlined as Bryan Mbeumo replacement at Brentford
Brentford have already faced a tough summer as former boss Thomas Frank joined Tottenham following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou.
Keith Andrews has replaced Frank as Bees boss after being promoted from his previous role as the West Londoners’ set-piece coach.
But Andrews’ efforts to guide Brentford to further success next season have been scuppered by the fact that Manchester United are set to sign Bryan Mbeumo.
However, speaking live on talkSPORT [28 June], Tony Cascarino said: “If you want to replace Mbeumo Brentford, go and have a go at Harvey Elliott, try and get Harvey Elliott.
“I think he’s an infectious character that just lights up a squad.”
Elliott could be a perfect acquisition
Football Insider verdict
Andrews faces a major challenge on his hands in replacing the highly regarded Frank as Brentford boss, while Elliott would have an arguably equally tough task in replacing Mbeumo, should the Bees land a move for his services.
Harvey Elliott stats | 2025 Under-21 Euros |
Appearances | 5 |
Goals | 4 |
Assists | 0 |
Mbeumo enjoyed a stellar Premier League campaign for the West Londoners last season, scoring 20 goals and creating seven assists in 38 top-flight outings.
But despite enduring a lack of game time for Liverpool under Arne Slot, Elliott presents himself as a highly worthy replacement for the Cameroon international.
The 22-year-old’s ability to perform on the big stage was remarkably showcased when he scored in the Champions League last 16 against PSG, even though he featured for just four minutes as a substitute.
Furthermore, Elliott has scored four goals in five appearances for the England Under-21s ahead of Saturday’s Euro final clash with Germany, and should take an enormous amount of confidence from that before returning to the senior game next season.
