Brentford ‘reveal two demands that must be met’ to sell Yoane Wissa to Newcastle

Brentford have set the price for Yoane Wissa as Newcastle United continue their pursuit of the forward.

Brentford opened their 2025/26 Premier League account with a 3-1 loss away at Nottingham Forest on the opening weekend of the season.

Their preparation for this campaign has been largely hampered by big names exiting the club this summer and that trend looks destined to continue.

Last year’s star man Bryan Mbeumo left Brentford for Manchester United, while Christian Norgaard and Thomas Frank departed for North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur respectively.

Wissa is the latest Brentford star to garner attention and the West London club have outlined their key demands as Newcastle step up their approach.

Brentford reluctantly set demands for Wissa exit

Brentford announced the record signing of Dango Ouattara from Bournemouth on the eve of their opening game of the season, but still remain keen on retaining Wissa.

talkSPORT (18 August) has now revealed that Brentford have set their two key demands, which will have to be met before the Congolese forward can move away from the club.

The Bee’s want another forward to come into the club, as they see Ouattara as a replacement for Bryan Mbeumo, as well as demanding a price of £60million before sanctioning his exit to St James’ Park.

Newcastle believe Wissa has bought into a move to the North East but are reluctant to offer more than £40m given the forward’s age and the fact he only has one year remaining on his deal.

The Magpies are looking to strengthen in their forward ranks further, following the signing of Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa and their pursuit of Leicester City’s Bilal El-Khannouss.

Football Insider verdict

Following their 3-1 loss at Forest on Sunday and a turbulent summer, it’s understandable that Brentford fans might be looking at this season with apprehension.

Thomas Frank’s move to Tottenham Hotspur might be the biggest concern for Bees fans but the Dane’s former set-piece coach, Keith Andrews was given the reins at the GTech stadium this summer.

With their new boss still finding his feet and a squad that is still taking shape after a tumultuous summer it is important that Brentford fans retain their faith in the club’s processes that have seen them excel in their four Premier League seasons.

Ouattara brings proven Premier League experience and quality alongside Jordan Henderson and new starting forward Igor Thiago opened his account from the penalty spot in their top-flight opener.

Alongside Thiago in the frontline will be Kevin Schade, who announced himself to Brentford fans with a promising campaign last year scoring 11 goals and notching two assists.
