‘Brentford to battle West Ham for £5.1m Bojang transfer’

West Ham appear to be facing competition from Brentford for the signing of Reims talent Adama Bojang this summer.

The Bees are currently in a period of transition at the Gtech Community Stadium, with Thomas Frank departing to replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham, and Bryan Mbeumo possibly following him.

Mick Brown told Football Insider that Spurs have also set their sights on Yoane Wissa, which could leave the expected new manager with several holes in the squad ahead of next season.

Football Insider understands that set-piece coach Keith Andrews is set to be announced as Brentford’s new boss for the 2025/26 campaign, which has been met by mixed reactions.

However, a new young talent has appeared on the radar at the Gtech Community Stadium, who notched six goals and two assists during his loan in Switzerland with Grasshopper.

Brentford want to beat West Ham to Adama Bojang signing

According to The Guardian’s Ed Aarons via X (18 June), the Bees are not the only club interested in the 21-year-old forward, with the Hammers and AC Milan joining the race for his signature.

It is understood that the Gambian could leave Reims for around £5.1million (€6million), with at least two Premier League clubs keeping tabs on the striker’s situation in France.

Football Insider verdict

While Bojang is an inexperienced, very raw talent, it is clear to see why Premier League clubs are joining the race for his signature this summer.

The 21-year-old striker, who can also play out wide on the wing, is extremely quick, can drop into midfield to pick up the ball, and is never afraid to throw himself into a tackle.

Many supporters at the Gtech Community Stadium will be familiar with those traits, with both Mbeumo and Wissa doing more than just putting the ball in the back of the net.

If Andrews is to replace Frank this summer, he is likely to implement a similar playing style to the one he previously worked under, and the Bees will need to sign similar stars to make that work.

Football Insider understands that Brentford interviewed Justin Cochrane before the assistant coach followed Frank to North London, with the club clearly desperate to promote from within.

Very little is known about the most recent transfer link, having ever only made 11 first-team appearances for Reims, but it would be an exciting signing, nonetheless, given how well the Bees can develop unknown players.
