Brentford’s Wissa reacts to Mateta’s one-word Crystal Palace message amid exit links

Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta has sent an excitable message after the club brought the curtain down on a remarkable season.

This has been an excellent campaign on the field for the Eagles, who finished 12th in the final Premier League standings, recording their best ever points tally in the league of 53.

Perhaps more significant than that though, was the victory Crystal Palace enjoyed over Man City in the FA Cup final at Wembley earlier this month.

That secured a first ever piece of major silverware for the Selhurst Park club, and also ensures they will be competing in the Europa League from next season.

Having played a key part in that success, Mateta has been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Man United recently, although the striker appears happy where he is at this moment in time.

Jean-Philippe Mateta reacts to trophy celebrations

On Monday (26 May), Crystal Palace held an open-top bus parade through parts of London, to celebrate their FA Cup trophy success.

Mateta was of course part of that along with the rest of his teammates, and it certainly seems as though he enjoyed the experience.

Taking to Instagram, the striker posted a series of pictures from the event, along with a caption that simply read: “FANTASTIC”.

Among those to react to that message from the Crystal Palace striker was Yoane Wissa, with the Brentford ace one of many to like the post.

Brentford and Crystal Palace will be desperate to keep key duo

Football Insider Verdict

Just as has been the case with Mateta, there has been plenty of speculation around the future of Wissa in recent times.

Earlier this season, Football Insider reported that Nottingham Forest are well-placed to sign the Brentford star in the summer transfer window.

Both of these strikers have been a key source of goals for their teams this season, and an important outlet with their hold-up play in the centre-forward role.

It would therefore be a major blow for both Brentford and Crystal Palace if the pair were to move on when the market reopens.

Indeed, both will be looking to push on after the progress they made this season, and keeping their key centre-forwards will have a major influence on that.

As a result, there will be plenty of interest in the futures of both Mateta and Wissa over the coming months.
