Brentford’s Yoane Wissa reacts to Bryan Mbeumo to Man United transfer update

Brentford star Yoane Wissa responded to the latest transfer update emerging on Bryan Mbeumo’s impending move to Man United this summer.

The Cameroon international experienced an incredible 2024/25 campaign, notching 20 goals and seven assists in the Premier League, and his teammate on the opposite wing had an equally impressive season.

Mick Brown told Football Insider that Tottenham have turned their attention to signing Wissa, with the Bees beginning to lose several of their big-name stars during the summer transfer window.

The former Man United scout also told Football Insider that the Red Devils are pushing hard to sign Mbeumo, with talks continuing behind the scenes between the two Premier League clubs.

With Thomas Frank also leaving the Gtech Community Stadium, it is likely to be a tough campaign for the Bees, and a fresh update on one of their star players has emerged.

Bryan Mbeumo to Man United update emerges

Taking to Instagram (26 June), Fabrizio Romano wrote: “UPDATE: Manchester United are now confident to get Mbeumo deal done after progress. Negotiations are underway after the new bid in excess of £60m.

“An agreement is now close with Brentford. Bryan Mbeumo has already agreed personal terms weeks ago, he’s pushing for his dream move to Man United,” and earning a like from teammate Wissa.

Manager-less Brentford to struggle next season

Football Insider verdict

Following Frank’s move to Tottenham, Football Insider understands that set-piece coach Keith Andrews is set to be appointed by Brentford, much to the bemusement of supporters.

He will have big shoes to fill next season if this is the case, with the former manager not only having a huge impact off the pitch, but also playing his part in the community surrounding the Gtech Community Stadium.

Mbeumo and Wissa have been heavily linked with exits, which could leave the Bees without some big-name players ahead of next season, with some fans already worried about relegation.

Mick Brown also told Football Insider on Monday, 23 June, that Arsenal were set to make a shock move for Christian Norgaard, and a transfer appears on the verge of completion already.

Losing two of the biggest goalscorers, the club captain, and the much-loved manager could be detrimental to the Bees’ 2025/26 Premier League campaign.

Supporters are, of course, concerned for the new season, and if Andrews is to be the next manager, he must be backed by the board during the summer transfer window.
