Brighton forward loves scoring vs Wolves, Vitor Pereira set for major test

Wolves will suffer their sixth defeat in seven Premier League games if they are beaten by Brighton on Sunday.

Wolves drew 1-1 with Tottenham last time out, as Joao Palhinha’s 94th minute equaliser denied them a first win of the top-flight campaign.

The Molineux side have not enjoyed a victory in the Premier League since a 3-0 victory over Leicester City in April.

However, Wolves beat Everton in the Carabao Cup on 23 September, as their cup run continues to offer them respite from their top-flight woes.

Brighton star Danny Welbeck has a strong record vs Wolves

Danny Welbeck is back on form, as the striker notched two goals when Brighton beat Chelsea 3-1 in their last Premier League game.

The 34-year-old also produced an assist when the Seagulls hammered League One Barnsley 6-0 in the Carabao Cup.

Meanwhile, Welbeck has scored six Premier League goals against Wolves, which is the joint-most he has ever scored against an opponent in the top flight.

Pereira could be sacked by Wolves despite recently signing a new deal, thanks to a potential clause in his contract.

The Molineux club currently appear destined for a relegation battle, and they have already been beaten on home soil by newly-promoted Leeds United.

Leeds, and particularly Sunderland, have acclimatised well to the Premier League since winning promotion from the Championship last season, increasing Wolves’ chances of facing an unwanted second-tier return.

If Welbeck repeats his previous goal scoring exploits against the West Midlands side at Molineux on Sunday, Pereira will be under more pressure than ever before.

Wolves face Sunderland and Burnley in their first two games after the upcoming international break, while failure to earn victory in either of those two games could spell the end of the road for Pereira, especially if his side lose to Brighton first.

On the other hand, Fabian Hurzeler appears set to enjoy another successful season with the Seagulls.
