Brighton have their say as Luke Littler reacts to transfer announcement

Brighton have confirmed the return of Pascal Gross, who has re-joined the Seagulls from Borussia Dortmund.

On the weekend, Brighton put an end to a difficult run of form as they beat Burnley 2-0.

However, fans were already in a celebratory mood when it was announced that Gross had completed his return to the AMEX Stadium on 2 January.

Gross had previously been at Brighton between 2017 and 2024, where he helped oversee a golden era at the Seagulls.

Now, upon signing a deal until 2027, Luke Littler has been quick to react to the news.

While Brighton battle to keep hold of Jan Paul van Hecke this month, the addition of Gross will be a massive moral boost to the club.

The 34-year-old was once one of the Seagull’s best players, and his performances were key to their eventual qualification for European football.

In fact, despite being a midfielder, Gross is Brighton’s second-highest all-time top scorer in the Premier League with 30 goals, only behind Danny Welbeck with 41.

Now, once the transfer was announced on Instagram, Littler liked the post in a surprising twist.

Upon noticing this, Brighton responded, posting an image of the darts star liking the post, with the caption: “The world champ is a Pascal Gross fan,” followed by a smirk and dartboard emoji.

Gross’ Brighton career in numbers

Gross’ Brighton career is no doubt one to boast about.

The 34-year-old has netted 32 goals for the Seagulls to date in all competitions from 261 appearances.

His highest tally came in the 2022-23 campaign when he found the back of the net 10 times, as Brighton went on to finish sixth in the Premier League.

Many of these strikes have been memorable, including netting the Seagulls’ first-ever European away goal as Brighton came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Marseille in October 2023.

Now, he will be aiming to replicate these displays in the second half of the 2025-26 season as Brighton look to once again qualify for Europe.
