‘Brighton step up Harvey Elliott pursuit as Sunderland deal beckons’
Brighton may step up their efforts to sign Harvey Elliott from Liverpool following the latest developments in the market.
Elliott has enjoyed an excellent summer, scoring five goals in six appearances to fire England to the U-21 Euros title.
However, he’s often struggled to break into the Liverpool side and just last season, had to settle for 22 of his 28 appearances across all competitions coming from the bench — with only two Premier League starts.
Nevertheless, Elliott still proved his quality with five goals and three assists across those outings.

Simon Adingra exit ramps up Brighton’s Harvey Elliott interest
Former Premier League scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider recently (26 June) that Brighton are well-placed to sign Elliott this summer in a £40million deal.
And the Seagulls should now be ready to step up their pursuit of the 22-year-old after the latest development.
That is that Sunderland are on the verge of completing a deal for Brighton winger Simion Adingra worth in excess of £20m, including add-ons.
Adingra’s exit not only frees up extra funds, but also creates extra space on the wings for Elliott, who can play both out wide and as an attacking midfielder.

Now the right time for Harvey Elliott departure
Brown also told Football Insider (10 July) that it’s ‘certain‘ Elliott will leave the Reds in the current transfer window.
And in reality, that is the best thing for the player.

Elliott clearly has supreme talent, but some poorly timed injuries have hindered his development at Anfield, pushing him down the pecking order and allowing others to thrive in his absence.
However, this is a player still absolutely capable of becoming an England star in years to come.
At the age of 22, now is the time for Elliott to find a club where he can be a regular starter, proving he’s an elite Premier League talent.
Brighton might just be the perfect step back for a sprint forward.
