Brighton transfers: Stefan Borson taken aback by multiple exits
Brighton have made a surprising decision to let go the majority of their recruitment scouts following a number of successful years in the transfer market.
That is the view of finance expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider he would be “shocked” if there isn’t a clear plan in place after making the decision.
The Times reported on 12 November Brighton have axed the majority of their full-time recruitment scouts as part of a behind-the-scenes restructuring.
The club’s recruitment department has been the envy of the Premier League in recent years after helping earn more than £200million at the Amex.
Brighton sold Moises Caicedo to Chelsea for £115million in August 2023, while Marc Cucurella, Ben White and Alexis Mac Allister have also moved on for significant transfer fees.
Brighton will have plan in place after staff exits
Borson believes the club will have something up their sleeve after being so well run by owner Tony Bloom and his staff in recent years.
“It is a surprising decision,” Borson told Football Insider.
“We know that they are very good in terms of recruitment.
“But what we don’t know is exactly how the whole situation works there with the data provided by the owners’ data company Starlizard.
“They provide services in terms of recruiting the scouting and data.
“I suspect they have got something in mind.

“Clearly for their size, they are one of the smartest teams around.
“Yes, from the outside it looks like a surprise, but I would be shocked if there wasn’t some very clear plan behind it, just because they are so well run.”
