'Brilliant', 'Our one hope' - Everton rave about 27-year-old performance v Watford

By Aramide Oladipo

Everton supporters have expressed their delight on social media with Oumar Niasse’s performance against Watford on Sunday afternoon.

The 27-year-old sparked a remarkable comeback for the Toffees who secured an extraordinary 3-2 victory against the Hornets at Goodison Park.

Watford looked to have added more misery on Merseyside with two quick-fire goals after the break through Richarlison and Christian Kabasele but the hosts responded in terrific style.

Niasse got the Toffees back into the match before substitute Dominic Calvert-Lewin equalised just six minutes after coming on the pitch.

Leighton Baines slotted in a penalty in stoppage time before they were let off the hook when former midfielder Tom Cleverley missed a late spot kick of his own.

Everton fans were pleased with the team’s second-half comeback but many singled out Niasse for special praise on social media.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

The Senegal international has become a shock favourite amongst the Everton faithful despite almost leaving the club in the summer.

Niasse produced a match winning performance in the 2-1 victory over Bournemouth in September and he was the standout performer in this weekend’s match.

The striker has now managed to score seven goals in all competitions this season.
