'Brilliant to talk to' - Exclusive: Brown reveals what makes Leeds player so special
Michael Brown has heaped praise on Kalvin Phillips after he reiterated his long-term commitment to Leeds United last month.
The ex-Whites and Spurs midfielder, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, revealed the 24-year-old is “brilliant to talk to” and has managed to keep a level head despite many plaudits over the last two seasons.
Phillips told FourFourTwo magazine, “I want to spend my career at Leeds and see this club doing well in the Premier League.”
The news was further reassurance of the local lad’s long-term desire to stay at Elland Road. Phillips signed an improved contract in September that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2024.
However, as revealed by Football Insider, the defensive midfielder has a release clause in his new deal believed to be in the region of £20-25million.
Brown could not praise the Englishman enough, drawing particular attention to his versatility as a player.

“He is a wonderful talent and he loves Leeds United,” he told Football Insider.
“What I like about him is that he is such a level headed kid. Brilliant to talk to. He is a proper Leeds supporter and how can he play!
“Kalvin can play so many positions. Central defence, in a three, holding midfield and he can even play more advance in a number eight. He has a bit of everything in his play – short and long pass, a tackle when needed, energy, competitive – a proper player.”
Phillips has been a standout performer in a Marcelo Bielsa side that sits top of the Championship and primed to achieve the allusive feat of promotion to the Premier League.
