Exclusive: Ex-Man City star reveals what their coaches think of Ian Poveda
Michael Brown has revealed that Man City coaches think highly of Leeds United new boy Ian Poveda.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Russell Edge, the ex-City and Leeds midfielder explained how he watched Poveda in action for the Premier League giants Under-23s and the feedback he got of him was positive.
The 20-year-old is still waiting for his action at Leeds since signing from the English champions in the January window.
Poveda, who is a winger or attacking midfielder, was in the United squad for two matches after joining but has failed to make the matchday 18 for the last three games.
“I saw him the odd time for the under-23s at City,” Brown told Football Insider. “They really liked him, so he (Bielsa) did well to get him, probably, but again, he’s not used him.
“He’s got Poveda in, he’s got Augustin in but they’re not getting minutes.

“At some point Poveda will be saying: ‘I need to contribute, I need to have a run, I need to have a go.’ In those wide areas, will he change one of them?”
Poveda was one of three January signings made by Leeds along with Eli Caprile and striker Jean-Kevin Augustin, all of whom have barely figured as Bielsa has remained loyal to the players who have taken the team to second in the Championship.
The promotion hopefuls are next in action at home to Reading on Saturday as they look to close the gaps on leaders West Brom.
